Our guinea pig girls lol...advice?(kate n debs)

Ive been intruiged(sp)...you know how ive been wanting a pet for Taylor (dylan will get his when hes older)...well im liking all these guinea pig posts ...the pics are cute too.
Do they bite?
whats the best "home/bed" to get them? what bedding etc?
How often is it ok to hold them?
do you think they are lonely just one?
whats best to feed them on?
do you wash them?
do they smell?
how often do you need vet visits?
do you use flea treatments? if so is it the same as cat n dogs?

My mum used to have one when she was younger but i dont wanna tell her....lol...she`ll go mad hehe. but i was gonna get taylor one and my little sister ambers birthday is coming up so thinking it`d make a good "personal pet" for her without the ther girls edging in too.... i think i`ll find more questions along the way...i know i could just google it but tbh i think first hand from people is best and their experiences rather than the "textbook" way

well first of all...... u can never over handle a guinea pig, the more the better, (basha is sitting on jess lap atm)
this is my 9th guinea pig and ive never been biten
as i have a long haired piggy i wash them, get special guinea pig shampoo....
i normally get 2 pigs(2girls better-boys fight) but as i have just one now we bring him in loads......
i get a big bag of dry food from asda for a couple of quid.....
but they love carrots cucumber brocoli etcetc hence the PIG hey kate lol
ive never flead my pigs bit i know u can (i have a bunny too)
erm i trim my pigs nails as they can get sharp,,,,,,,
my pigs have always been outside, in a hutch with sawdust and hay, i shred all my mags for him too lol
think thats about it

no they dont smell lol
i got a hutch from pets at home for £40 plenty big enough for pigs...
the pigs in pets at home are £19 each i got basha for free as i am a member of a pet site-the same as freecycle but pets are offered and wanted, so u could look on there if u want x x

ooh see id be worried cos we have ALOT of foxes round here.

is there anythign you would recommend NOT doing lol...i.e chocolate etc?
my mums hamster she has the now tends to try take a chunk out of you if it smells baby milk or something sweet iykwim? lol

you know how you say two girls and not two boys...is it obvious to tell? im not being funny but the only way you can tell with hamsters if they trail them behind them lol iykwim lol

trust me u know, basha is 13weeks and u can see his ding dong psml girls have a circle, but anyone u get them off will know the sex x

im quite seriously thinking about this then. sounds a bit better than getting a dog atm with not knowing where im gonna be shortly lol

vicki i have 5 cats, they give him a tap every now and then but are ok with him, and yes elaine i would get a piggy x

i think i might hehe...gonna get a look on gumtree and see what i can get and i`ll go to the pet shop when the snow clear a little...ask for a hold to get used to it, ive never held one b4 lol
