Re: MACLAREN BUGGY RECALL
I'm sorry but its a load of bollocks and can happen on ANY buggy technically well not even buggys as even closing doors can do exact same thing as I have learnt when I trapped Morgan's finger in back of his cupboard door as I WASNT paying attention to where he had his hand and it was my own fault. If your kid is touching the buggy when your folding it down or unfolding it it can happen regardless of make/model of buggy. Thats just my two cents.

Re: MACLAREN BUGGY RECALL
sorry just had to quote this from the comments as the person is so right.
Oh for goodness sake. This is an example of America's love of litigation - which is why they haven't felt the need to recall them here. Anyone with an ounce of common sense would keep their child's hands out of the hinge in the same way as they prevent them running into the road, putting their hand on the stove or trapping bodyparts in doors.
Whatever happened to parental responsibility?

Re: MACLAREN BUGGY RECALL
yeah but to take 12 childrens fingers clean off? i know the mothercare jive i have couldnt do that. i wouldnt but a maclaren now
Re: MACLAREN BUGGY RECALL
But Katie at the end of the day 12 out of millions of kids is a tiny percentage infact its something like 0.00001 percent or something stupid and then its often parents fault and they are after a quick buck so rather than blaming themselves for letting it happen they figure ooh we'll sue the manufacturer, how many kids do it in doors each year an awful lot more than on the buggies but you dont see doors being banned/recalled. Its just one of those things the majority of umbrella fold buggies have same/similar folding mechanisms so have same risks, as I said even my luna could chop a kids finger off should they get it caught.

Re: MACLAREN BUGGY RECALL
i have to admit i agree with the quote and what julie is saying... a number of things could happen.
my brother chopped the tip of his finger off on a garden chair .... but wasnt being properly supervised.... everyones out to make a quick buck these days and if it means losing a finger or two hey why not.
i dont let either of mine near my buggies and never have without me being there...not fo fear of it chopping fingers off but of it squishing them or them damaging the buggy more so.

Re: MACLAREN BUGGY RECALL
anything with same/similar folding/hinge mechanism has potential to do it, forgot about deck chairs having same folding technique.
