How many steps a day do you think you cover?
10,000 steps a day?
Well, yesterday I did 5000 steps in the day (which earned me about 3/4 of a point, lol, and was a distance of about 2.25 miles). I walked up and down Silverburn twice (in both directions) so thought it might have been more, but regardless, I'm really pleased as I got about 3000 the day before and I walked around the Fort.
I know we're all supposed to aim for 10,000 but that just feels so unachievable and then I discovered this website that says there was little research to support 10,000 and that what we should do is find our daily baseline and then work on increasing it a bit at a time. Apparently 5000 steps is considered "low active" which pleased me as it's been a long time since I was considered active, lol! I'm hoping that having the pedometer on will encourage me to move a little more.
How many of you manage your 10,000 a day?
Lx

Re: 10,000 steps a day?
Lol, well, I walked 3000 the next time I went to the fort and I'd been walking a bit earlier. It wasn't as long a trip though. I was a good few hours in Silverburn and Tesco yesterday to hit over 5000. Getting 100 is easy - I can do that just getting dressed in the morning. However, I've been walking round Braehead (lol, yes, I window shop a lot) and today I've done 3476. Short of walking round the living room for the two hours Alex is asleep, I'm not sure how to add another 6000 steps to that. Still, I'm going to aim for about 5000 tomorrow....kirsty wrote:im sure that day we were at the fort we walked about 20,000 steps hahahaha

Re: 10,000 steps a day?
Walkingaround the house dont count tho does it, cos you dont walk at the same speed that you do when you are out.
Every day of the week, mon - fri, I would say I do more than 10,000. My girls schools are over a mile away from our house, and I walk there and back, twice a day. I then also go to morrisonsor tescos, which morrisons is a walk back to my house and then a bit further if that makes sense, and tescos is in totally the opposite direction to where I live, but I dont usually catch a bus, I walk everywhere, I love walking.

It does count, it just takes you far longer to actually achieve the number of steps (if at all) that you're supposed to. Unless you're going to walk 4 miles around your living room, you're not going to get 10000 steps!
