Am I classed as a single parent
When I had Becky 3 years ago, Steve was workng as a long distnace lorry driver and was out during the week, Monday Friday, out Mon night to Thurs night and occasionally if they were busy he would be out Fri night too. Then he would be up at my in-laws farm over the weekend and home Saturday night if he was in the lorry Friday night. He had occasional nights at home during the week.
That all changed in November last year when we lost his dad to a heart attack. Mum in law hadn't been very well since around July last year and we found out after that they both knew this time last year from tests and stuff the doctors did on her that it was more than likely lymphoma and this was confirmed around the middle of Feb this year, and we lost her 2 days after her 61st birthday, on the 11th March.
Anyway would I be classed as a single parent? Steve spends most of his time at the farm making sure that the cows are ok, and going to work as an agricultural contractor from there We still see him during the week if there's nothing going on at our house, no playgroup etc.

Re: Am I classed as a single parent
I would say you are a single parent, if he isnt living with you and you only see him occassionally, regardless of whether or not you are in a relationship with him, you are the primary carer to your child, so you are a single parent
Re: Am I classed as a single parent
it depends what you class your relationship as??
If its for forms, benifits etr, i think they class boyfriends as a relationship if they spend a certain amount of time at your home with you??
if he doesnt live with you?? or spend so many nigts at your home then you would be classed as single on theses forms?? but if its just for personal reasons the best way to think is, do you think you are in a reationship yourself??

if you live together for more than 3 days of a week then you are classed as in a relationship

this is correct, you can say you arent in a relationship, if you dont stay together for more than 3 nights a week

Re: Am I classed as a single parent
Right, I'm in a relationship with him as he's my hubby, but is living at the farm at the moment because of the cows and it's a working farm, it's been like that since the beginning of the year when his mum was in hospital. I think he's spent a grand total of 6 nights at home in the last 9 and a half months.
Sharon, I'm down as my maiden name on Facebook so that people who I was at school with can find me easier, if that makes any sense.
Kerry, of course I'm in a relationship, he's my hubby,

I class myself as a single parent when Rob goes on his tours for the last 6 years rob was away for about 9 months every year which is alot when you have children together. Rob knows i do this lol and says i'm entitle to as he's not around to help
but he got posted to somewhere where he doesn't have to go away a lot now so thats good
