Post by jue Thu Jun 25, 2009 6:09 pm

Right, he's had the runs for 7 weeks, I treated myself with meds from petshop, he picked up then got bad again, then I took him to vets who gave him Baytril, that didn't work, so took him back and they gave him Doxycyline and it looked like he was picking up. Some days the poo is stuck to his arse and we have to wash it, he sits there eyes closed, fluffed up. Other times he's runnign up and down, chirping away!! He's been outside today and he was so excited lol.

I know during malt, bird can be a bit off but wanted to know if anyone elses bird gets the runs during malt.

I've changed his seed today to see if that helps, he as no fruit or veg due to having the runs.....Think thats it, told you it all now lol.

What i worry about is the stress he gets when visiting vets, its no good for him!!

I wonder if its the fruit/veg that you have given him prior to this that has brought it on. DId the vet test a sample of his poo for infection or parasites?

He's not really a big fan of fresh food, only the odd bit of apple/grape. The vet as done no tests. What would you do Julie x

I'd ask the vets to run tests for you. To rule out any kind of infection or parasite. Have you changed anything round recently or moved him from his usual spot? I also read after googling that stress can affect them and give them runs.
