hmm apparently might have problems
I mentioned to my GP about having snakes today and she asked what kind so I told her. She then preceeded to say how MW and HV might have an issue with me having a snake in same room with new baby due to slight risk of it constricting baby IF it got out somehow... I said that technically having a cat or dog causes more risk of harm to a new baby than a snake that is kept in a secure viv. Now its got me thinking that should one of my health professionals deem it a wrong thing to do that I might be up for a battle to keep my snakes in which case I will take it as far as I can as my snakes are no more dangerous than your average household pet.

Re: hmm apparently might have problems
Well only time will tell wont it as to what will happen with regards to my snakeys although still got both and have no intention of getting rid. What they going to do get Social Services to come take my kids away just cos I have reptiles? Its seriously silly.

Re: hmm apparently might have problems
Zoe a burmese python killed a two year old not long ago in the USA. Reason they would have me get rid is because people have little knowledge and understanding of reptiles so think that because its pretty unknown then you shouldnt have them especially where babies are just incase they get out and strangle the baby as they are constrictors but like said there is more chance of my dog turning on them or somones cat smoothering a baby than a snake getting near the baby. Apparently there was a big thing here in Leeds which involved my GP about someone keeping a snake and having a baby not sure what happened but even social services got involved.
