Cat litter
Argh why is the stuff so darn heavy???? also why is it so messy, cats are supposed to be clean animals however they aint tidy or Smudge isnt as she kicks the litter all over the place . On a positive note I got a 10kg bag of litter for £1.80 in Lidl today beats £2 for a 5kg bag. Also the bob martin one that is supposed to clump together is rubbish I got a bag of it in poundland and didnt like it one bit.

Re: Cat litter
i use one from wilkos that clumps to disguise the smell, its £1.90 for 10kg. We also have a toilet style litter tray as i was fed up of cleaning litter off the floor all the time
Re: Cat litter
we got a wood one from pets at home and its a huge bag and when he pees it turns to sawdust

Re: Cat litter
i'm lucky ... both magic and fifi go outside to do the wee and poo so i don't have to have a litte tray at home anymore. No more smells and no more cleaning up the litter.

Re: Cat litter
good point about the litter i wasnt thinking then. Julie you shouldnt be anywhere near the cat litter its too heavy for you to carry and no way should you clean it!!! I always used to be the one who cleaned the litter tray but when i got pregnant mark had to do it and i never got the job back he always does it now
Re: Cat litter
Of course I clean the bloody litter tray lol, esp if Chris aint home cos cat poo STINKS. Its not as if I touch anything with my hand I use nappy bags to pick up the poo. Also I am more likely to end up catching whatever it is from the cat than cleaning the litter tray as she is constantly in my face and tries to shove her bum in my face too.

Its highly unlikely that Smudge is going to carry toxoplasmosis as she hasnt been outside properly and certainly aint eaten any mice/rats/birds etc so should be pretty safe for me to do the litter tray. Infact I've probably had toxplasmosis a long time ago as lets just say my hand hygeine wasnt its best years ago and probably still isnt lol, I'm a sucker for playing in pond mud getting out blood worms and looking under stones for creepy crawlies so I've probably built up a good resistance to the stuff lol

Re: Cat litter
Chris does often clean the litter tray but she has a habbit of waiting until he has left for college before going for a poo.

Re: Cat litter
sometimes you just gotta do it havent ya. I used to go to my mil's house when i was pregnant with tyler and her cats were crawling with fleas and i used to get bitten alll the time. and they had like like 12 kittens.
I used to use that citicat litter thats like crystals and it traps the smell

Re: Cat litter
Trust me I dont think anything could cover up her odour lol, Then again I think I prefer to know its there so that I dont get lazy and forget to clean her out cos if you cant smell it your less likely to do it regular are you. Saying that Monty has an aroma that can knock your socks off... seriously walked into living room the other day to his scent and was nearly sick had to open windows etc.
Katie ellen I dont know how you coped with the fleas it was bad enough just finding them on Smudge although never got bitten by any and have only just got rid of them I think. Must admit though its quite satisfying defleaing a cat lol cos popping those little blighters is great.
